  • About Us

Who we are and what we do

We are a small Tasmanian business run by two sisters - one based in the coastal hamlet of Snug on the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, and the other in in the picturesque valley of Collinsvale, nestled in the foothills of the Wellington Ranges. Every second Saturday you'll find us, and other makers, selling our wares at Hobart's famous Salamanca Market (stall site 280), come rain, hail or shine (although admittedly, we do draw the line at snow or gale force winds!).

At Made By Hand we believe in the value of craft and the hand made. We believe in the value of supporting local creativity (and there is much of that in Hobart) and endeavour to promote the work of Tasmanian artists, designers and crafts people.

    Screen printed textiles

    Made by hand

Our own line of work is a set of original designs depicting the flora and fauna characteristic of, and often unique to, Tasmania. Hand printed onto calico bags, linen tea-towels, and custom made plastic bag holders, these bold and colourful images offer a distinctly Tasmanian gift, memento or souvenir.

(Not to mention that they are also light to carry, and very useful!)
